Tonight on Radio Heartland I'll have a guest DJ in the first hour - John Hermanson of the duo Storyhill. Originally from Montana (same as his Storyhill partner Chris Cunningham), John settled in Minnesota and expanded his musical persona to include bands The Hopefuls and Alva Star.
John and Chris continue to work together, touring and hosting their popular summer music weekend in the Rockies, StoryhillFest, and soon they'll begin a new album project with producer Dan Wilson.
I'll talk with John about his many ongoing projects including a music production company called Fiction, and next weekend's Minnesota version of the Montana wilderness & music experience, StoryhillFest Midwest, being held Labor Day weekend in Deerwood, Minnesota.
In the second hour: mistrust, denial, blame, jealousy - all the favorites!
These are common songwriter topics, and while they're generally no fun to live through, they can lead to some great songs. We'll scrape the surface with music from Charley Pride, Etta James, Rodney Crowell, John Lennon and more.
That's tonight, on Radio Heartland on Minnesota Public Radio News.
