Tonight on Radio Heartland on Minnesota Public Radio News, it's Fishing Opener Weekend and Mother's Day Eve. We'll hear songs about both.
I'll spend some time with Mother Banjo, who is not a mother and has only been playing the banjo for a few years. But Ellen Stanley took "Mother Banjo" as her stage name because it quickly and simply describes the lovely, rootsy music she makes.
In the second hour I'll talk with Eric Bibb, a folk singer with an impressive history. Through his father, Leon Bibb, Eric met many of the famous musicians in and around New York City in the 60's. Woody Guthrie was a family friend. Bob Dylan stopped by the house. And Paul Robeson was Eric Bibb's godfather.
Listen to Eric Bibb and Mother Banjo, tonight on Radio Heartland.
A fantasy duo for me would be Hank Williams and Patsy Cline together live in concert in an intimate setting probably singing one of his songs.
Bruce, that sounds like a really special country duo.
I think this Mother Banjo section is a repeat, but it's still good to hear again. You can't get enough of the good stuff. Time for my tea again!
