Tonight on Radio Heartland on Minnesota Public Radio News, we'll consider the unique musical phenomenon of the Jug Band with Elliot Silberman, who is the guiding force behind de Elliot Brothers and organizer of tomorrow's 13th annual "Battle of the Jug Bands" at the Amazing Grace Café in Duluth.
In the second hour, guitar virtuoso Tim Sparks, a North Carolinian who chose to make his home in Minnesota back in the mid 70's. Back then his idea was to make an album of Americana favorites for guitar, but it was put on hold while he tended to other projects.
The album is finally done. It's called "Sidewalk Blues". We'll hear some excerpts and talk about solving the intricate puzzle of finger style guitar playing, tonight on Radio Heartland.
Greetings Heartlanders! When was the Rio Nido recording made that was just played? I remember seeing them perform when I was in college at some bar -- West Bank of U of MN, I think. I've always loved Prudence Johnson's voice -- but that was a reeallly long time ago.
Fun show so far tonight -- I'm enjoying it. I work all weekend, so this is a nice respite. It's good to hear Dale's voice tonight -- it's been a tough day. I'll just relax with my tea ...
