Tonight on Radio Heartland on Minnesota Public Radio News, we'll spend some time with singer/songwriters Cheryl Wheeler and Susan Werner at a performance they gave in Minneapolis last month for International Women's Day. The event at the Cedar Cultural Center was recorded by Radio Heartland as a two hour concert.
We'll present the concert it in it's entirety at 7pm tomorrow night online at radioheartland.org, and on digital radio in the Twin Cities at KNOW, 91.1 HD2.
But tonight, Minnesota Public Radio News listeners get a preview.
In hour two, we'll hear a group of men doing songs formerly reserved for female singers only. Dane Stauffer, Julius Collins and Ben Baaken star in a musical review currently playing at the Lab Theater in Minneapolis, called "When a Man Loves a Diva". We'll see how much it matters (or IF it matters) that the singer's gender changes but the lyrics stay the same.
All this, and some tunes that tangle the branches of the family tree, tonight on Radio Heartland on Minnesota Public Radio News.
This is the first time I've been able to listen to the Saturday night show for more than a couple of minutes. May it live long and prosper. (It could use more goats, though.)
Thanks for the good wishes, Cindy.
I'll have to start looking around for more goat-based music.
"The Lonely Goatherd" can't be the only thing out there!
