Today the president will sign a bill intended to save the whole economy while simultaneously moving forward on efforts to prop up ailing banks and salvage two major automakers. Whew! What are you doing today? I plan to clean the bathroom. It's about time, and if I wait much longer, recovery may be impossible.
We all have times when we feel absolutely frazzled by cascading crises but the economic situation facing this new administration is extreme, to put it mildly. Barack Obama had it right when he said during the campaign that presidents need to be able to "deal with more than one thing at once."
How many more things could occur?
I noticed there were videos online at You Tube of some apparent meteor strikes in recent days. One on Sunday in Texas ...
... and another last month in Sweden.
If you were the Interplanetary Takeover Czar of the Martian High Command, don't you think this would be a good time to launch the invasion? Our leaders are a bit distracted by mind-bending economic calamities, and most of the water cooler talk this week is about Hollywood and the Oscars on Sunday. Perfect!
I'm not saying it's happening, but remember - they aren't immune to our germs, so as soon as the first extraterrestrial slithers down the ramp, try to give him/her/it a big welcoming kiss!
After all, we can't wait for government to solve all our problems.
