Now that it's a new year, many people will be trying to make new habits or break old ones. Today's Question: What do you intend to do differently in 2012?
Vaporize more Ganja.
Steve the Cynic has the right idea. It's been my philosophy, albeit unarticulated, (yes, I know, probably not in Websters; deal with it) for the past decade or so....
I do have a goal that if I ever attain it, I will shout it from the rooftops. Then again, maybe not.
Eat less, exercise more, continue on the path toward a life with integrity
@Kelly D down there-
I looked at your blog. It's pretty funny. You're too young to have Deelie Boppers or know the sheer joy that they can bring. i had that EXACT same bag as a child over 40 years ago.
You have inspired me to consider blogging...that is CONSIDER a blog this year. That is what i would do differently. Write more.
I am well into my '60's now and I intend to be a lot more grouchy in everything I do.
I think I'll stop answering questions and just do those things that need doing. Living by example.
I long ago resolved to stop making New Year's resolutions. I found the were an excuse to not make changes as soon as the awareness of the need for change arose, and then became an occasion for discouragement when I failed to keep them. (So, if I've resolved to make no resolutions and in fact have made none, have I succeeded or failed?)
I watched "Food, Inc." last week and that finally pushed me over the edge I was teetering on to be more thoughtful with my grocery purchases, particularly meat. Over the weekend, I joined my neighborhood co-op and bought into a CSA for next summer. It will be a hit on my wallet, but what's that compared to what we're doing to this planet? ::steps down from soapbox::
Buy less chocolate...
Be more persistent in the pursuit of my goals. I think I've known the things I've wanted to improve for a while now, and currently it's more about making them happen, than following any new ideas.
Rid the Anoka area of bullying both by adults and children
Reduce the "stuff" in my house by a third. What's not necessary will either be thrown, sold, or given to a charity store.
Being a gay man since the age of 3, I plan to value myself more than some of my conservative family members are willing to do. I will not seek validation as a human being through the eyes of others -- validation which may not be forthcoming. I plan to value my talents and abilities at the same level as any politician or cleric who seeks to marginalize me for their own gain..
Purchase the lake-shore property that I will use in retirement. I feel the economy is continuing to turn the corner. Now is also the time to take advantage of low interest rates and relatively low property values. Though I would remind anyone buying property or a home. It's not an investment, it's not your personal piggy bank, it's a place to live.
I'm going to reserve the word "awesome" for situations that genuinely induce awe.
Eat better, lose weight.
The doctor said "well we'll go in and clean up that meniscus or if it looks too chewed up, I'll just take it out".
I think I'll have to get serious about getting smaller.
