Time Magazine announced its choice Wednesday for Person of the Year: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Today's Question: Who would be your pick for Minnesotan of the year?

I would nominate Jackie Bischoff - a friend who died of cancer this fall - she was a school teacher, great role model, and impacted thousands of lives in the short amount of time she lived. These are the people who should be remembered and held up as examples!

BTW, that dog didn't make any bad puns, either.

Ooh, sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this afternoon.

What a dumb question. Owing to most of the answers, ask a stupid question - get a stupid answer: Mark Dayton??? Are you kidding me? First of all Dayton is hardly "Minnesotan of the Year" to almost exactly half of the electorate who; (a) didn't vote for him, (b) the others who wasted their votes on Horner, and (c) his own party who didn't even give him the nomination! (I won't even mention Dayton's Senate career, but I digress). Can somebody puh-leez tell me what Dayton has done to be named "Minnesotan of the Year"? He's not even in office yet. Kind of like Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize for doing exactly nothing. So just who or what organization is it with the responsibility of naming the Minnesotan of the Year anyway? I've lived in Minnesota for 22 years and never heard of a "Minnesotan of the Year", or who it is who makes this ignoble declaration. Silly to say the least. If working at MPR is so boring as to ask a question like this, might I suggest they get a cribbage board.

Secretary of State Mark Ritchie for successfully piloting the ship of state through two nationally significant election recounts during 2010.

steve the cynic - My dog, who went all year without lying to me. - Ahhhhh Steve but he was ... lying right next to you pretty much the whole time .... oh welll ... let sleeping dogs lie.

Mark Dayton is running for Minnesota governor in 2010 because Minnesotans deserve a state government that works for them. He'll work well!

I would say Mark Dayton. Why he wants to be governor is beyond me- it will be a horrible job! But glad someone is willing to fight for the right to take it on.

Steve the Cynic, Come-on…… you know the apocalypse is not scheduled for this week.
We should however be working on our Zombie escape plan:-)

Margaret Anderson Kelliher- the first woman to be nominated by a major party for the MN Governor's Race.

Must be a sign of the apocalypse, James.

Sarah Martin should be Minnesotan of the Year for sticking to her moral convictions that oppose America's wars inspite of facing jail time for refusing to cooperate with a grand jury witch hunt.

Steve the Cynic, WOW… I hope my keyboard still works …. Coffee flew out my nose! :-)
My dog also is the only one that really is a good friend and that I can count on.
Is this like three days in a row that we actually agree?

i would vote for mark dayton who is going bring back mn to the glory days!

Mary Jo Copeland founder of Caring & Sharing Hands is my nomination! Mary Jo is an amazing person, if I accomplish 1/3 of what she has to help others I would be a better person and very busy indeed!

My dog, who went all year without lying to me.

All three candidates for governor. Because of their willingness to keep on topic (without going negative) and for debating as much as they did. They did MN a great service.

Wayne Wolden, the mayor of Wadena, for the way he handled himself and his community in the aftermath of the tJune tornado.

I would nominate Mayor RT Rybak for the dramatic turn around in violent crime in Mpls this year. What was looking to be one of our worst years for violent crime has turned into our second lowest level since 1986. This was not an accident but strong policy and cooperative effort led by the Mayor.

Gov Pawlenty as he made the DFL look like fools three for four years in a row.
