How well did you keep your New Year's resolutions in 2009?

At this time of year, people resolve to start exercising, or stop smoking, or take up an instrument, or do volunteer work. How well did you keep your New Year's resolutions in 2009?

I kept my resolution to have my child without medication. All natural. -Gretchen, Cottage Grove, MN
I did not do very well with 2009 New year's resolutions. Having said that however, the following little poem I memorized years ago is apropos: It matters not if you try and fail and try and fail again. It matters much if you try and fail and fail to try again! -Tom, Anoka, MN

For the last three years i have resolved to eliminate the word "hate" from my vocabulary. i have become more aware of how often i use it and each year i have actively reduced the use of the word. It continues to be a resolution and i believe i will continue to improve.

I actually followed through on most of my personal goals for a change. With those minor successes under my belt, onward for this year!
More & bigger things ahead.
Maybe that new tattoo...

I failed at my weight loss resolutions in 2009. However, I've resolved to lose 40 pounds in 2010 and have made a financial commitment to make sure I'm successful. Healthywage, www.healthywage.com will pay me $100 for losing weight in 2010. I think the money will help me stick to my goals throughout the year.

Why in the world would you file this material under "Religion/Ethics"?

(Those two words shouldn't be paired anyway.)

I don't make 'em either. If I want to make a change in my life, I make it whenever it works best to make it.

We used to hate new-year's-resolution time at the YWCA. The locker room would be incredibly crowded during January, and then the crowd would gradually decrease and get back to normal by about the middle of February.

Last year, I did not make any New Year's resolutions, so I was very successful in keeping them. This year, I may make a resolution to become more healthy.

I finally made resolutions I was excited about and have been doing excellent. I had quite a few slip ups the first six months but never gave up. My two resolutions: Always use my own reusable bag when shopping and never use plastic forks or spoons.

I quit making New Year's resolutions a few years ago after realizing that I never follow through on them.

Now what were they again?
