Should have been nominated:

The oscar list didn't horrify me this year, although what the heck is Little Miss Sunshine doing anywhere near The Queen? Still, there are some films and performances that I wish had been recognized:
Best Picture:
Children of Men
United 93
Pan's Labyrinth
Best Director:
Guillermo del Toro for Pan's Labyrinth
Bill COndon for Dreamgirls
Alfonso Cuaron for Children of Men
Actress:
Emily Watson for The Proposition
Ellen Page for Hard Candy
(Can't think of another...it was a good list this year but Meryl should be in the supporting category and Jennifer Hudson should be in the leading lady category.)
Actor:
Clive Owen for Children of Men
Christian Bale for The Prestige
Edward Norton for The Illusionist

Jennifer Hudson definitely should be best actress. Since Meryl is the "devil" in the movie title, I'm OK with her being best actress though other people from that movie should have been nominated, too.
I definitely feel The Prestige should have acting nominations. Too bad Mel Gibson ticked off so many people--his movie should have more nominations. Those actors worked extremely hard doing their own stunts!

You really thought "The Prestige" should have captured a couple acting nods, Keith? I'm interested... who did you think should have got the nom?

You & I should really sit down & discuss Oscars sometime, Stephanie. It's one of my areas of study.

I agree with you, Stephanie. I suspect COM, Prestige, Illusionist and Labyrinth were robbed because they are too "fantastic" and don't have the name "Lord of the Rings".
