Pat Anderson's campaign for governor is getting support from the supporters of Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Anderson, who served as State Auditor between 2003 and 2007 is seeking the GOP endorsement for governor.
Her Facebook Page features a photo with Paul and her. She also thanks Minnesotans for Limited Government for their endorsement. Minnesotans for Limted Government is a coalition of Ron Paul supporters (known as Liberty Republicans) from Minnesota's 4th Congressional District. Meanwhile, Marianne Stebbins, who managed Paul's campaign for president in Minnesota, penned an e-mail backing Anderson.
"Pat's words are not just political rhetoric. Her libertarianism - her father is a life-long member of the Libertarian Party - is not just an ideological faith; she has in the past and pledges to continue in the future to govern by those principles because they work.Pat's not perfect; she's not going to call out the National Guard and run the Federal Government out of Minnesota. But she does support pulling Minnesota out of No Child Left Behind. She does support passage of a medical marijuana bill. She does support 10th Amendment Sovereignty legislation that has teeth. She's against a National ID. And most importantly, she has the executive experience to turn these issues into workable policies, supported by legislation, that actually change the way Minnesota is governed. Most importantly, Pat is right on fiscal issues. She joined us at our Freedom of Economics conference with Tom Woods.
Pat understands that government does not create wealth. She understands that every dollar spent by government is a dollar taken from somewhere else in the economy. While other candidates are proposing tweaks to the state budget to close projected deficits, Pat is the one who recognizes that the state cannot address the budget deficit without fundamental reform - more economic liberty that encourages wealth-building economic development and fundamental reform that reduces spending by getting government out of areas where it has no legitimate constitutional authority.
I often talk about whether a candidate has a "core," whether they actually believe in liberty or whether they'll need babysitting. We won't have to feel like we need to watch over Pat's shoulder with every move. She has liberty in her heart, and this is important to me."
Stebbins said the so-called Liberty Republicans will have a presence at this weekend's GOP straw poll and at future state party conventions. She said about a third of the state delegates consist of the group.
But it's unlikely that every Ron Paul supporter will back Anderson. Stebbins said Anderson will likely get a majority of the votes at this weekend's straw poll but said other candidates are getting some support from them as well. She said several Ron Paul supporters, including the 6th District GOP Chair, are backing state Rep. Tom Emmer.
Marianne Stebbins means less than nothing in the greater scheme of things. You can't take her word for anything. I can attest to that because I was a Ron Paul supporter until he promoted Jesse Ventura and then his staff and Stebbins either lied, didn't return my phone calls, or tried to compromise my ethics. The Stebbins crowd is a bunch of creeps. If Pat Anderson has the public support of Stebbins and her crowd she will lose in the long run. They cannot be trusted and they have no principles. I don't think Pat Anderson stands with them and I think she is somewhat better than them. If Anderson's only issues are the ones outlined by Stebbins than I was wrong about her too. We'll see.
I don't know who Leslie Davis is, and based on his remarks, I don't want to. I do know Marianne Stebbins and I trust her. I like both Anderson and Emmer. We'll see what happens this weekend.
Pat is a fantastic candidate who truly believes in the Constitution, our Founding Fathers, and the Liberty and Freedom we American's hold dear to us. She is supported by the many Liberty minded delegates who see our freedoms slowly eroding and we recognize that Pat shares in our concerns.
On top of that, Pat is the only Republican candidate with extensive business and executive experience. Having founded her own company from scratch, as well as serving the citizens of Eagan as their Mayor, and as Minnesota's State Auditor, Pat has my vote!
Pat Anderson is spot on. Can you name the last government official who actually reduced the size of government in MN? I can, Pat Anderson.
BTW, Marianne Stebbins is a class act. The creeps are the ones who broke the rules at last years convention.
Other than the misleading headline, I agree with the article. Many "Ron Paul Supporters" have not endorsed anyone and many other support other candidates. I think the tone of the article implies something else, and I think it should be revised.
That being said, I endorsed Pat Anderson because she is a close adherent to the ideals of personal and economic liberty, and has a track record of fighting the expansion of government throughout her entire political career. No other candidate has the principles and the track record to back it up.
Pat will make an excellent governor, and she has my whole-hearted support.
As far as Leslie Davis is concerned, I'm not sure why someone vying for the Republican Endorsement for Governor would waste so much of his time criticizing someone he feels is worth less than nothing. Marianne is a good person and a close friend, and neither her or "her crowd" are creeps. Also, it may be a bad move politically to insult so directly 30% of the people whose endorsement you are seeking. But, then again, what do I know.
All the Republican candidates for governor (with the exception of Leslie Davis who in his constant quest for relevance is now affiliated with his 4th political party) would be a better choice than whoever the DFL picks. I am proud to lend my support to Pat Anderson for Governor. Pat is knowledgeable in the Constitutional Basis of our government. She is skilled in executive management and administration, wise in the ways of the bureaucracy, and able to read a budget or audit, Pat has what it takes to make the difficult decisions that will have to be made.
I support Pat Anderson because she is one of the few candidates that are consistently ‘Constitutional’ in her experience and platform for any government role she has already served and especially in the role of Governor for which she is currently seeking.
Minnesota would be in great hands with such a passionate candidate who is a strong advocate for State and individual sovereignty as stated very eloquently by Marianne Stebbins above in the article.
One is either with our Constitution and its protection of individual and national sovereignty, or they may find themselves supporting United Nations and its world agenda that has fervently sought to strip our country of not only its national sovereignty, but individual sovereignty as well. Without national/individual recognition of sovereign Rights, we are nothing more than ‘indentured slaves’.
One is either for ‘soundness’ in all things, or one may find they have become a pawn for that which enslaves them personally and economically in the short and long run.
I understand that most Americans have never even read the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence! As a result, many cannot discern between a ‘Right’ and a ‘Privilege’! Yet these same people make up the voting public.
How did this happen one may ask?
I will never vote for any candidate without a proven record of Constitutional loyalty.
If they take money from lobbyists, that is bribery. Once they take that money they are no longer free to represent their sovereign constituents, are they? If they are influenced by churches who have undue influence upon their parishes, that is a violation of the separation of Church and State. If their voting record is inconsistent with the Constitution, that is a red herring. If they voted for bailouts and have proven their master is the Federal Reserve, they certainly do not represent American people do they?
I was a delegate last May at the Minnesota Republican State Convention. All 1,756 delegates were greeted with two massive red tarps indicating that we were all going to vote for a pre-selected ‘Conservative Delegate Team’ whether we liked it or not! Our inherent American conscience was being overridden. The ballots were pre-printed with only those who supported John McCain and we were reminded that any additional names added would cause the ballot to be void.
We liberty-minded delegates were systematically ‘blocked’ to write the 14 names of our own delegates who would commit their vote for the one and only presidential candidate whose only service for 34 years has been in defense of the Constitution, Dr. Ron Paul.
Marianne Stebbins was the one who led the campaign for this rare, Constitutional, free market candidate. She, and all of us who supported this courageous and honest man and his message have been and continue to be treated with such an intense level of political hypocrisy and mendacity the likes of which we haven’t seen since the great Mark Twain made particular criticism of in the late 19th century!
The comment above by the person, Leslie Davis, is indicative of that vicious level of hostility that those of us who continue to press on with Constitutional law in all levels of both party and public service, must endure if we are to reclaim recognition of our individual and national sovereignty in all levels of government.
I will say for the record, shame on MPR for not reporting what took place at this State convention in May 30, 2008!
The travesty that masqueraded as a Republican convention would have made Mao and Stalin blush and yet not a peep from the media was heard.
Did Ron Paul back Jesse Ventura?
Did he do any campaigning for him?
Pat Anderson may indeed be liberty-loving, but in that restricted, Know Nothings way that has her pointing out her Christian credentials and opposition to policies that enable "certain kinds" of people to become new residents of Eagan.
That's not Libertarianism, it's Conservativism of the lowest sort.
Minnesotans are fortunate to have several fiscally frugal 2010 gubernatorial candidates to in which to choose.
But only one has also shown an unwavering consistency for supporting our constitutional-protected individual liberties. That is former Minnesota State Auditor and former Mayor of Eagan, Pat Anderson.
Pat has a proven track record of always being on the side of small government. As current President of the Minnesota Free Market Institute, she is a strong voice for a free market economy. A free market that includes school choice, a free market that includes energy solutions, and a free market for health care.
It should be known that many Ron Paul Republicans are supporting Representative Tom Emmer. And given Tom's track record on fiscal legislation, it is easy to see why. But Mr. Emmer also has a track record of legislating morality, including a prohibitionist view of medicinal marijuana. I would rather back a candidate who believes in doctor-patient relationship than a candidate who insists on to getting between my doctor and myself.
Like Pat Anderson, Minnesotans for Limited Government is focused on a consistent message of limited government, constitutionally protected individual liberty and fiscal conservatism.
As a member of Minnesotans for Limited Government, I am proud to endorse and support Pat Anderson for 2010 Minnesota Governor.
