The delegates at the Independence Party's endorsing convention decided against waiting to see whether former Gov. Jesse Ventura would run for Senate. They endorsed Stephen Williams over two other candidates. Ventura has said he is strongly considering a run for Senate but won't make a decision until July. He would face WIlliams in a September primary If he decides to run as an I-P member
The convention also endorsed DFLer Elwyn Tinklenberg in Minnesota's 6th District. Tinklenberg is running against GOP incumbent Michele Bachmann.
