"Michele Bachmann's campaign did not allow MPR (or other broadcast outlets) to record the event because they "don't like how audio and video has been edited and and posted on sites like YouTube in the past so we now prohibit media taping."

That's an interesting approach to handling the media. "No press allowed to make a record of what I say, because it might end up on YouTube."

And what is the "bad thing" that would happen if what she said, did end up on YouTube? What would be so bad about having a record of what this Congressman said, to fellow Republicans? Is she afraid she'd come across as "nuts" or something?

Oh, I forgot; there's YouTube footage of her telling people that global warming is a hoax and Hugo Chavez is going to destroy the United States, and other stuff like that. I guess there is reason for her to "fear the camera and the tape recorder."

So it's better, from her perspective, that there is no recording of or reporting on what she said.

Of course she will talk to some poltical media. She's been on conservative talk radio regularly. You MPR guys will have to start listening to her on those broadcasts, if you want quotes from her.

Hey MPR, here's an idea. How about doing a news story on the 6th CD GOP convention? Do a brief little intro, explaining the recording ban, followed by about three minutes of dead air.

Why should people have to find out about this through an obscure little blog called Polinaut? Get this story on the air!
