Our President and CEO sent a message to MPR Members today. Everyone should read it:
If you were to walk the halls of Minnesota Public Radio right now, you would likely hear us talking about members - about the vital support contributed by Members like you. We are certainly grateful.
If you are one of the nearly 9,000 members who contributed during our February Member Drive, thank you. With your support, MPR remains strong. And with your Membership gifts we will continue to provide our audiences and communities with a public radio service that is second to none.
As you probably know, and as we announced, we did not meet our goal for this member drive. In fact, we fell short of our financial goal by $175,000. The Member and financial goals for each of our regular member drives are part of our larger annual goals that help to ensure MPR can balance its operating budget. So, we still have some work to do to achieve our goals for this budget year. Over the coming months, we will continue to work tirelessly and use creative means to recruit more listeners to join you in supporting MPR. We remain confident that our goals can still be achieved by the end of our budget year on June 30.
You have helped to build MPR into an extraordinary service. No other public radio organization has MPR's level of support from its members. Thank you, again, for believing in the work we do and for making your personal Membership gifts to help this unique public service be the best it can be.
Jon McTaggart closed this message with, "Gratefully," and as a proud member himself. Thank you, members.
