EMI has just put out a new compilation, An Introduction to Syd Barrett, that covers his output from the early Pink Floyd days through his bizarre and fascinating solo work. This year also saw the release of a much-praised new book about Barrett, Rob Chapman's A Very Irregular Head: The Life of Syd Barrett.
