MPR brings you Minnesota Sounds, a collection of features that are an audio tour about Minnesota's places and experiences. Today on MPRNewsQ I found the feature Fort Snelling: Gun powder, fuses and the boom of a cannon:
One task that the [historic interpreters] soldiers perform is the firing of the cannon. It's a crowd-pleaser for sure, and it's an attraction that gets people to this living history site. When Fort Snelling was fully operational, the cannon was never actually fired.
There are plenty more sounds, so grab your headphones and tour the state. You can hear the cannon mentioned above, pause as the memorial wind chimes ring through St. Olaf, listen to Stillwater's lift bridge as it "hums right along."
