What a great way to spend a Saturday morning! Tomorrow, June 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., is the first event that makes me want to show up at the Fitzgerald in my pajamas:
Your favorite Saturday morning cartoons from years past hit the stage of the historic Fitzgerald Theater June 12th. Classical Minnesota Public Radio kicks off the summer with the Magical Classical Cartoon Morning - a vaudeville inspired movie party projecting the funniest cartoons and other performances with classical accompaniment. The show is hosted by Classical MPR's Alison Young with Ballet Minnesota performing Mozart's 3rd movement from his 40th symphony. Sopranorama (Janis Hardy, Maria Jette, and Molly Sue McDonald) will draw from their classical repertoire to delight and dazzle. It's not a movie party unless we open the pipes of the Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ and pipe organ master Mike Grandchamp will do just that. There will be free coffee, juice and doughnuts while they last and don't forget your camera to snap photos of your family with costumed characters who'll welcome audience members when they arrive. Other surprises are in store.
