A few features on gender

Posted at 11:30 AM on January 21, 2010 by Julia Schrenkler

Over the past couple days I've navigated upon a few MPRNewsQ features that focus on gender. These specifically point to differences between male-female societal roles and experiences, but are not full-spectrum representations. It is still pretty interesting to grab three distinct features and perspectives:

* According to commentator Peter Smith, ice shacks ease marital stress between men and women.

* Save your Mr. Mom jokes. Laid off from his job, he finds a different kind of fulfillment at home. This NewsQ commentary written by Stephen Cheesebrow is simple and straight-forward.

* MinnEcon looks at the money and at the trends. Do layoffs come in gender waves? It may be the seasonal nature of some jobs, or firms trying to maintain equity in layoffs. Share your thoughts in the comments.
