Funnel clouds were spotted in Minneapolis, Chisago County, Cottage Grove, and Dakota County yesterday, tornadoes wreaking havoc on much of the Twin Cities. Clean up efforts continue today: read this story on cleanup efforts by MPR's Jessica Mador and Elizabeth Baier. At least 2 Minneapolis families were left homeless, and 7,000 people were cut off from power. Tom Clark, a meteorologist in town from Pennsylvania, captured the tornado touchdown in Minneapolis - watch what he captured on his iPhone.
Interestingly enough, a storm that caused so much distress was not forewarned by sirens. MPR Chief Meteorologist Paul Huttner says, "Wednesday's severe weather and tornado event was highly unusual." Take a look at this slideshow of photos of residents dealing with the damage.
