I'm looking for a volunteer Susan Budig volunteered to attend the event and recap it on Gather.com. Event details:
Minnesota Public Radio| American Public Media pay tribute to one of Minnesota's most beloved writers, Bill Holm, at The Fitzgerald Theater on Tuesday, April 14th at 7:30 p.m. Friends of Bill Holm with Robert Bly, hosted by Fred Child of Performance Today, will feature an impressive list of writers and musicians who were friends with, inspired by, and connected to Bill Holm, including Emilie Buchwald, Phebe Hanson, Jim Lenfestey, John Calvin Rezmerski, and Barton Sutter with his musical brother Ross Sutter
We'll begin the evening with a shot of Bill's favorite spirit, Reyka Icelandic vodka. We'll share memories of Bill and selections from his works, plus some of his favorite music--from Scott Joplin to his beloved Bach--performed by pianist Dan Chouinard and organist Bill Chouinard, with a special appearance by soprano Maria Jette. We'll finish with the music of the Southside Aces, a New Orleans brass band that will lead us out onto Exchange Street to give Bill a rousing, raucous sendoff.
Dates and Times: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 7:30 p.m. CT
Venue: Fitzgerald Theater
Address: 10 East Exchange Street
City: Saint Paul
The deal: You get two (2) free tickets to the event, one for you and one for your companion. Unfortunately I can't foot anything else of the bill like transportation, parking or dinner. Hang out, enjoy the event, and write about it. Just recap the night and post it to a few Gather groups: mnreaders.gather.com, publicradio.gather.com, books.gather.com by 07:00 a.m. Friday April 17. That's it! Contact me for more information.
