Winter comfort food

Somehow checking the weather makes me check my pantry, and I hope we have ingredients on hand to make something warm and satisfying today. Some options:

* Fall Menu for A Splendid Table. Sure it sounds oh-so-last-season and the menu is from 2002, but this is a classic line up. Time might be an issue...

* For similar elements with more speed, I'm considering Dinner for a Cold Winter Night: Pork Chop Casserole with Fennel and Apple posted by Dorinne Houston on foodtalk.gather.com. Please share your own recipes there, you'd be surprised at how much I depend on that group.

* Dessert? Possibly. These Seriously Good Improvisational Chocolates from a recent Splendid Table show sound good. That cool down time might be a challenge.
