In any news coverage about an act of nature, the story isn't about the storm, it is about the people affected by the damage and how they rebuild. What happens when the possibility of rebuilding seems to slip away? MPR News Cut, Return to Rushford:
"Things were pretty good and pretty positive until the last month," Crystal [Schroeder, a homeowner] says. "We're coming up on the one-year anniversary. People are stressed out; we've been doing this all year long. We go up to the Cities every now and then to see my parents; you feel guilty when you leave because you know there's stuff you should be doing. You feel guilty when you spend any money on anything that might be enjoyable at all."
Stress. Loss. Effort. Watch the slideshow and hear interviews about the people of Rushford, Minnesota. How would you rebuild? Would you help? Post your perspective in the comments.
