While some of us are celebrating that other holiday, the Minnesota fishing opener, others are taking our mothers to brunch. For those who lost their mom's, this can be a good day for memories. Gather regular Jim G. wrote an open "Happy Mother's Day" article for his (now deceased) mom. He gave us some background:
I grew up in the "Leave it to Beaver" era. My mother was a housewife. I can hardly picture her without her wearing an apron. It may be hard for a lot of you to understand, but this was post WW II. People thought that "Rosie the Riveter" would go back home & let the returning G.I.'s take over the jobs.
In other words, it was the start of the women's movement.
I won't spoil the story for you, you can read it yourself.
