What may inspire people to talk about why they can't donate: Blood donation centers struggle with shrinking supplies. Risky behavior? Vacationing in malaria hot zones? Talk about this and you might end up with a company blood drive.

What you want to talk about ironically over beer: Drunks on the road. "A government report out today says the upper Midwest has the worst drunk driving rates in the country." For once, not being #1 is okay. Being #3? Cold comfort.
