Around the MPR headlines

Posted at 8:46 AM on April 23, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler

Looking for conversation topics today? I nabbed these from the mpr.org homepage and :

What you must know to make it through basic discussions today: Pa. voters weigh in on hard-edged Democratic contest. "Hillary Rodham Clinton ground out a gritty victory in the Pennsylvania primary Tuesday night [...]"

What you can say you thought of first, if you're like that: New novel combines development, kung fu and brussels sprouts. According to author Don Lee, brussels sprouts are just funny. Combined with kung fu?

What you'll send to your parents for reasons of your own: Online learning is growing by the gigabyte. Attend a virtual academy!

What may inspire people to talk about why they can't donate: Blood donation centers struggle with shrinking supplies. Risky behavior? Vacationing in malaria hot zones? Talk about this and you might end up with a company blood drive.

What you want to talk about ironically over beer: Drunks on the road. "A government report out today says the upper Midwest has the worst drunk driving rates in the country." For once, not being #1 is okay. Being #3? Cold comfort.

Tornado video

We all secretly want to be storm chasers...maybe that will change when you watch this footage. MPR posted video footage of a tornado on the ground:

We're open to your comments on the capture. Tell us if you'd rather be in the basement or filming.
