Signs of spring
Posted at 8:32 AM on April 14, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler
MPR's chief meteorologist Paul Huttner exclaims that it is suddenly spring and I noticed the update on today's "First Ship" ceremony in Duluth.
Maybe I'm grasping at sunshine straws, but I'll take whatever signs of spring I can get.
Join an open online discussion about kids without marriage
Posted at 10:12 AM on April 14, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler
Are out-of-wedlock births no big deal? Or are they? I listened to Midmorning and Kerri introduced the topic of kids without marriage:
As the rate of babies born out of wedlock rises, some scholars argue that there is a negative social impact on children. Midmorning asks if the increasing numbers indicate a crisis after all.
You can listen live now and send a question to the show's archived audio.
In any case, you can join our open discussion now and share your perspective on children born outside marriage.
Wouldn't it be nice if people filled your piggy bank?

I don't know how I missed Jon Gordon's post about saving money the Web 2.0 way. Turns out:
SmartyPig is a Web site designed to help people save money for specific goals, like buying an iPhone or a new digital TV. It includes a social element that lets friends and family contribute to an account and monitor a saver's progress.
This is pretty interesting. As someone saving for a goal, would you make your account public in hopes people would $upport your efforts? As a contributor would you be more likely to match someone's savings efforts if you could view it online? Read and comment on wavLength.

As well as other Gather groups of your choice. There is no paid compensation, but of course you get all your Gather points and you get to keep the book.
