MNDot's previous inspections cleared the Highway 23 bridge in St. Cloud, but the National Transportation Safety Board stated the design of the bridge gusset plates was inadequate. Considering the context of last August's I35W bridge collapse the closing is probably no surprise. Meanwhile, people are immediate affected. MPR's Jessica Mador reports that St. Cloud residents worry about bridge closure and that road detours will remain in place indefinitely.
