Do you suffer from real estate envy?

Posted at 10:13 AM on February 6, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler

Daniel McGinn, author of "House Lust: America's Obsession With Our Homes" appears on Midmorning to talk about real estate envy:

"Do you dream about master bedroom suites and walk-in closets? Do you obsess over square footage? Do you go online to check out the value of that house down the block that just went on the market? The author of a new book on America's obsession with homes and real estate says you're not alone."

Considering it is many people's largest investment, isn't that natural? Is it any wonder many of us place value on our homes because it touches so many aspects of our lives and needs: shelter, safety, status.

Tell us about the first album you bought

Posted at 3:04 PM on February 6, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler

Bill DeVille and the Musicheads asked: What was the first record you bought with your own money?

Oh, some of the answers are sweet and no-nonsense:

"'Singing the Blues' by Guy Mitchell" - Nippy Katz
"The Police - 'Synchronicity'" - Joseph H.
"Billy Joel 'The Stranger'... and I bought it at a JC Penneys store!" - Michael K.

Others dish on the backstory, like this one:

"I don't rightly recall... but my brother bought the soundtrack to a little known film called Dudes when we were kid, that I would have bought, and it was a record that changed our lives with it's mix of metal, punk, and alternative music." - Eric P.

But if you haven't replied yet, the answer isn't yours. Tell your story.
