Midmorning today: War and ethics

Posted at 7:49 AM on January 2, 2008 by Julia Schrenkler

Midmorning has an interesting back-to-back line up today. First at 9:00 a.m. they discuss Iraq's new year, and follow by talking about ethics with Randy Cohen.

Don't hesitate to call in or send your question. Via telephone use 651-227-6000 or 800-242-2828, or submit your question online during the shows in progress by following the "Send a Question" link on the program homepages (Midmorning and Midday).

Looking back, looking forward

The Current Music Blog looked both ways before crossing into 2008.

Mark Wheat wanted to know what was the best live big of 2007, while Steve Seel posted "My 3 Songs" for New Year's Eve. Both are reflective in nature but give us something to think about for this fresh year.

On the watch for greenwash

American Public Media's new blog The Greenwash Brigade digs into environmental claims:

"Our hand-picked environmental professionals, each part of the Public Insight Network, are on the hunt for 'greenwash' as they examine eco-friendly claims by companies, governments and other groups. They ask tough questions about the mainstreaming of green, from the perspectives of people in the trenches who are focused on these issues 24/7."

That's an apt description. I found some examples: They wonder if a "buy local" economy is really sustainable, discuss the impact of "green buildings coupled with brown urban planning", and ask for your ideas on how to improve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

Read and comment on the blog or join the Public Insight Network to share what you know.
