Songs from Project Song?

Turns out NPR is hosting Project Song, much like MPR's songwriting experiment Songs from Scratch.
It has me wondering about our fascination with songwriting as an art, or maybe even our obsession with music in general. Why does music elevate our moods, our emotions? Can a song make our daily experiences seem to be an epic adventure? Send in the commentary to answer these questions and more.
