Marketplace Money's Tess Vigland was in the Twin Cities for the Broadcast Journalists’ event last night. Although I missed the event, I know she spoke about the Consumed series, a collection of on air and online stories as well as activities.
Vigland can speak first hand about the coverage and specifically her trash challenge. She quite literally carried all the trash she generated for two weeks and the results were eye-opening, and reportedly... fragrant.

Despite the daunting image and my description, are you willing to try it? Take the Trash Challenge.

Ever have a meeting end and actually wish it had been longer? Sounds unlikely, but it really happened to me. I met a great group of folks up here in Houghton, Michigan. MPR has a station here, and after today we just might see a great online group, too.
Although I've always found Michigan's U.P. to be a beautiful place, until today I had no idea it was home to so much art and music. I learned about The Pine Mountain Music Festival, Michigan Tech's Rozsa Center for Performing Arts, and got to meet local photographers and muralists. Watch the Keweenaw Life group for images and event updates!
