At 9 a.m., a surgeon reflects on diligence, heroism, and other requirements for practicing medicine successfully. Kerri Miller's guest is Dr. Atul Gawande, a surgeon at Brigham and women's Hospital of Harvard's Medical School and author of Better. He is also a recipient of the MacArthur Genius Award.
At 10 a.m., two experts examine the latest brain science and how we use our minds to interact with others. Kerri's guests are Sharon Begley, science columnist for Newsweek and author of Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain: How a New Science Reveals Our Extraordinary Potential to Transform Ourselves; and Daniel Goleman, psychologist, science writer and author of the new book Social Intelligence: The New Science of Human Relationships.
