Posted at 8:11 AM on May 11, 2007 by Bill Wareham
As fires blaze across the U.S. and in northeastern Minnesota, Midmorning explores the conditions that challenge forest fire management. At 9 a.m., Kate Smith sits in again for Kerri Miller, and her guests are: Dave Seaton, who runs a resort and canoe outfitting service called Hungry Jack Outfitters on Hungry Jack Lake; Lee Frelich, who researches forest ecology and fire management at the University of Minnesota; and Jim Walker, fire operations manager for the Oregon Department of Forestry.
Gardening season is in full bloom and Midmorning garden guru, and at 10 a.m. Deb Brown joins Kate in studio to answer your questions about all things green. Brown is a horticulturist who contributes a gardening column to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. She worked for many years at the University of Minnesota Extension Service's Yard & Garden Line.
