So it goes

Yes, I know, not a very original title for a post on Kurt Vonnegut, but...so it goes.
For his legions of fans, Vonnegut struck a chord with his unconventional, yet entertaining storytelling. I'll admit, picking up his books as a teenager in the 1970s was a watershed moment for me as a reader.
As you might imagine, his death has prompted a lot of chatter today on the web. I found a nice list of things Vonnegut at mediabistro.com.
Update: Jacquie Fuller's Vonnegut remembrance over on the Current Music Blog triggered another thought: When I wrote my original post above I excised the phrase "For people of a certain age" because, while I associate Vonnegut with my teenage years in the 1970s, I did notice that he transcended generations. Jacquie reinforces this point - she's about 15 years my junior, yet describes thher joy of discovering Vonnegut much like I would. And I watched my son, a dozen years younger than Jacquie, experience the same thing a few years ago. It's a wonderful thing.
