What do you think about our meteorologists?

Posted at 6:07 PM on February 28, 2007 by Bill Wareham (2 Comments)

MPR News listeners have probably noticed meteorologists Craig Edwards and Paul Huttner providing regular weather updates during Morning Edition and All Things Considered. As another winter storm approaches, I'm wondering what folks think about these segments. Let me know at bwareham@mpr.org.

I'm not a fan of meteorlogists, and it's not because their accuracy... it's the glorification of them, as well as much of what they say should be already understood my most of your audience...

I wrote more about it at my blog.

I have a similar indifference to TV meteorologists as the previous blogger, so whenever we learn about what jaunty place they are off to, I really don't particularly care. Local color is not something that I really need along with my weather.

That said, the two meteorologists are doing a bang-up job of talking about the weather. I particularly am fond of how they don't talk down to us; it's much more like listening to a scientist talk about their subject of passion instead of hearing a dope with bad hair.

Now, climatologists? Any day of the week. If Seeley wants a show daily at 2pm, he can be my guest.
