Cheers to HennCo Board's "no-acronym" policy

According to the Star Tribune, the Hennepin County Board has declared its meetings will be acronym-free:
After more than a few snickers, the Hennepin County Board gave preliminary approval Tuesday to levy the fine every time someone addressing the board uses an acronym -- a word formed from the first letters of a series of words and often used when referring to a government program -- instead of "commonly accepted language."

I couldn't be happier. Few things kill the flow of a radio story more than an acronym in a sound-bite that needs explanation.
