Midmorning: County attorneys and covering Iraq

Posted at 7:04 AM on January 5, 2007 by Bill Wareham

At 9 a.m., Kerri Miller's guests are Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and his Ramsey County counterpart Susan Gaertner. Gaertner has been in office for 12 years; Freeman is returning to the position he once held. They'll talk about crime and the other issues they face.

At 10 a.m., Kerri's guest is Washington Post reporter Anthony Shadid. Rather than covering the Iraq war as an embedded reporter, Shadid set out to tell the story of how the war was experienced by average Iraqi's. Shadid chronicles his experience in Night Draws Near: Iraq's People in the Shadows of America's War. He joins Midmorning to talk about the human toll of the war, and the what the future holds for Iraq.
