Midday: Counterterrorism and Norman Mailer

Posted at 8:09 AM on January 31, 2007 by Bill Wareham

At 11 a.m., the State Department's coordinator for counterterrorism, ambassador Henry Crumpton, will be in the MPR studios with Gary Eichten to talk about national security and the war on terror. Crumpton served in the CIA since 1981 and led the CIA's counterterrorism efforts in Afghanistan 2001-2002.

At noon, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning author Norman Mailer speaks about his new book, The Castle in the Forest, a fictional account of Adolph Hitler's boyhood. The event was organized by the New York Times. Today is Mailer's 84th birthday.
