Midday: Presidential politics and the best local music of 2006

Posted at 8:52 AM on December 28, 2006 by Bill Wareham

John Edwards is announcing today that he's running for President in 2008. Some other candidates are aleady in the race, and on the Democratic side, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are expected to decide very soon, perhaps even within a week. On the Republican side -- Rudy Giuliani? Sam Brownback? Mitt Romney? Chuck Hagel?

At 11 a.m. political science professor Chris Gilbert of Gustavus Adolphus College joins Gary Eichten to analyze the possible contenders and answer listener questions and comments.

At noon, The Current's Mark Wheat will be in the studio with Gary to talk about "The Year in Local Music."
