What we care about besides the news

Every once in awhile when I'm not paying close enough attention, our editorial meetings will wander off in some unpredictable direction. Today's case in point: several people mentioned they've noticed that there's about a :25 sec delay on a certain other radio station between the time something occurs - say a home run in the Metrodome - and the time the audio from that event reaches that station's listeners.

I suspect at least part of that phenomenon is due to digital transmission. For about a year there has been about an :08 sec real time delay on MPR stations because that's how long it takes to process the audio for digital transmission. I can't account for the other :17 secs on that other station.
