Posted at 11:50 AM on August 1, 2006 by Bill Wareham

The latest on Fidel Castro's health:

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Cuban leader Fidel
Castro's recovery from intestinal surgery is "advancing
positively," Venezuela's foreign relations ministry said
Tuesday, citing information from the Cuban government.
Castro's spokesman Monday night said the Cuban leader
had temporarily handed the operations of the government to his
brother Raul Castro while undergoing surgery for an intestinal
problem.

Stay tuned - NPR will keep us up to date on developments throughout the day. We're also looking for reaction from Cubans in the Minnesota region.
