I think this is quite possibly my most favorite day of radio. Ever. It's Minnesota Music Day where local artists take over the radio from midnight to midnight this Saturday. Non-stop local music from the newest of the new to the well-established bands that busted out of the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Hosts will be playing their fave and telling stories. I've already got my list bands going. Here's some other fun to look forward to on Saturday:
Teenage Kicks - 8-10 a.m. - Former Suicide Commandos front man Chris Osgood will join host Jacquie Fuller and share his take on the scene.
Radio Free Current - 7-10 p.m. - The all-request show hosted by David Campbell will ask the audience for their picks of best local gems.
Redefinition Radio - 11 p.m.-midnight - Kevin Beacham's hip hop show will be dedicated to the local hip hop scene.
Here's the schedule of hosts:
12 - 2am - Jade
2 - 4am - David Safar
4 - 6am - Lindsay Kimball
6 - 8am - Jim McGuinn
8 - 10am - Teenage Kicks with Jacquie Fuller
10am - 12pm - Bill DeVille
12 - 1pm - Jill Riley
1 - 2pm - Steve Seel
2 - 3pm - Barb Abney
3 - 4pm - Mary Lucia
4 - 6pm - Mark Wheat
6 - 8pm - Mac Wilson
8 - 10pm - Radio Free Current with David Campbell
11pm - midnight - Redefinition Radio
Don't forget about some of the great music events happening this weekend, including Art-A-Whirl (including a whole weekend of great performances at Creative Electric Studios), Gayngs: The Last Prom On Earth, Lyn Lake Fest, Hooliefest, and Americana Showcase.
I am a sustaining member and I am loosing my job in June.
In order to be frugal I canceled my cabel and my gym membersip, I will NOT give up my support for this wonderful radio station.
If I can find the extra money. Please all of you listeners that have not contributed do so otherwise we will be stuck listening to top 40.
There are some great MN artists, but I'd like to add one more to the list - The Wooldridge Brothers' "Days Went Around" album - especially the songs "Does She Love Me Loud", "Mashup Dreams" and "Thumbs."
Wow. Terri - thank you so much for your continued support of The Current. We will do our best to live up to your faith is us - and hopefully radio like the MN Music Day will become something we do every year and just gets to be a bigger and bigger part of what we do. Thanks for your comment and good luck in the job search - hopefully the fact that you are type of person that values our contribution to the community will result in others seeing that in you!

Can I imagine we'll be hearing the wonderful "Minnesota Song" by the Hobo Nephews at some point Saturday?
Is this the spot where I can make a few suggestions for Saturday?
How about DETROIT, Manplanet, The Karma Sluts, and Peal?
Can you play the entire Palomino album by Trampled by Turtles?
Play me some Prince!
It can't be requested enough- the more Prince the better- but hope you find time for Soul Asylum, Jayhawks, Golden Smog, Replacements, how about even "funky town" by Lipps Inc. or Owl City?
Teenage Kicks was a blast this morning! Is it available as a podcast? I want to share it with everyone I know!
What a great day of music! it's been fun driving around in the sun hitting art a whirl and hearing all mn music on the radio :)
Can you please link the playlist for the Minnesota Music Day on the homepage? I was around town and so many times I enjoyed a new song, but didn't get a chance until now to check titles and bands. Thanks!
Jen, glad you tuned in all day!
The entire playlist is now online.
