La La Love You, Frank

Today in Music History:

1937 - Merle Haggard was born.
1966 - The first session of what would become The Beatles album 'Revolver' started in the evening at Abbey Road studios London, with the recording of the basic track of 'Tomorrow Never Knows.'
1968 - Pink Floyd announced founder Syd Barrett had officially left the group. Barrett was suffering from psychiatric disorders compounded by drug use.
2006 - Eminem filed for divorce from his wife Kim less than three months after the couple re-married.

On this day in 1965 Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV was born ... he's known better as Frank Black and/or Black Francis, co-founder and lead singer of The Pixies. It was once said that everyone who heard the Velvet Underground during their heyday formed a band; it's tempting to imagine the Pixies had a similar impact. Kurt Cobain, for example, claimed that Nirvana was just ripping off the Pixies.

To salute Frank, we played The Pixies' "There Goes My Gun," from Doolittle.
