I'm so exited! The 1st 4 albums by the Twin Cities own Replacements will be re-issued on Tuesday by Rhino Records. These are the Deluxe Editions of The Replacements classics, Let it Be, Sorry Ma, I Forgot to Take Out the Trash, Stink, and Hootenanny.
When Rhino Records re-issue something they always do it first class. These 'Mats' releases are no exception. All 4 feature the original artwork, wonderful liner notes & BONUS tracks. All four of them are loaded. Color Me Impressed!
The Deluxe Edition of Sorry Ma...features 13 bonus tunes, including my favorite Replacements flipside, "If Only You Were Lonely" which was originally the b-side of the 1981 single "I'm in Trouble." This song, for me, makes it worth buying. It was always a hard to find song. I have fond memories from the 80's of sitting at the CC Club in Minneapolis and it always seemed to be playing on the jukebox. After a few beers it seemed to be everybody's "go to" song. The band was instrumental in selecting all the bonus tracks. Hootenanny features 7 bonus tracks, six of them previously unreleased, including an alternate take on "Treatment Bound" & also features "Lookin' For Ya," a song originally found, believe it or not, on Trackin' Up North, a talent search contest compilation album released by a Duluth radio station!
The Replacement Deluxe Editions are almost Within Your Reach. Find 'em in your favorite independent record store Tuesday.
