The Glover and Daniel Johnston

Cult-ure: A couple of cult icons are heading this way in February.

Crispin Glover, film and YouTube star, will be at the Minneapolis Oak Street Cinema on February 1 to introduce his film, "What Is It?" Need a kick? Check out this infamous 1987 appearance on David Letterman.

Daniel Johnston, Austin, TX cult musician and the subject of the excellent documentary "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" will be coming to First Avenue Mainroom on February 8. I hope he plays "Casper the Friendly Ghost."

Yo, DJ Jacquie Fuller, got any Texas stories to share about Johnston?

In re: Crispin Glover -- "Guess some people are attracted to Brycreem." Performance art gold, ladies and gentleman!
I remember that appearance and scratching my head afterwards. I realized later, Crispin is a kindred spirit to the late great Andy Kaufmann.

Thanks for the link, Christina! Made my day...

I am really excited for the Daniel Johnston show, I heard about it from the Aesthetic Apparatus email newsletter-- they're going to make a poster for his show.

Christina--unfortunately I got nuthin' for ya in my Texas bag on Johnston. I'm guessing you asked because a) I'm from the Lone Star state, or b) you're getting my Crazy Tales About Mentally-Challenged Musicians stories mixed-up--I do have a Wesley Willis story, but he was from Chicago. That said, I'm that much more excited for the show--time to make some Minnesota memories! Sadly, I was clearly too busy stalking Britt Daniels in my Texas days to have caught Johnston live.
