Marketing Genius or Moron?

Posted at 7:50 AM on February 1, 2007 by Dale Connelly (4 Comments)

The goal of marketing is to get attention, right? But what if your brainstorm draws the interest of police, the FBI and Homeland Security? And what if you took pictures while you were creating this panic? You would get arrested, that’s what.
And you would get a lot of attention.

Any MORON can see these are just signs and not bombs... I mean, who would want to blow up an Urban Outfitters? (I suppose someone would...)

there is a video here. It shows the installation of some of them.

They look like light-brites.

Judging from the antics of the two guys who appeared in court this morning, I'm voting for "moron." Granted, they're probably gonna be hung out to dry by their employer, but perhaps their lawyer should have advised them to lay off the weed before appearing before a judge.

It's interesting, though, how in other large cities where this "ad campaign" took place (NYC, Chicago, Atlanta) nobody noticed or cared.

I say they're *all* Morons. Both the people who perpretrated this stupid marketing scheme and the people who are so paranoid that they confused it with a terrorist attack.

Sheesh. Only in America!
