Back in January Movie Natters posted an interview with Susan Marks and John Kurtis Dehn about their documentary "Our Wildest Dreams: A True Crime Documentary of Dolls & Murder."
It's a look into the world of forensic science and how a set of macabre doll houses in Baltimore depicting actual murder scenes have been central to training homicide detectives for more than 70 years.
There is a lot of excitement about the film, both because of the strange and rarely seen subject matter, and because the one-and-only John Waters signed on as narrator.
The only problem was Marks and Dehn kept hearing that people didn't like the title. So they went hunting for a new one. It turns out Movie Natters helped a little.
Susan Marks sent me this note today: There are so many title options, but none of them were amazing. I really like how you titled your blog on about the film "Of Dolls and Murder." I consider it for a title for the film, but thought people wouldn't be on board with it, so I never mentioned it to anyone. Meanwhile, a lot of people weighed in on possible title names, including John Waters. But nothing resonated strongly.
Finally, John Dehn and I reached our deadline for picking out a name and discovered that we both loved "OF DOLLS AND MURDER" and that was that.
Of course the blog title was stolen from the original film name, so perhaps Movie Natters can claim credit for editing.
Marks says they are editing in every spare minute. Meanwhile they have a new clip on YouTube.
Very cool! Nice one Euan.
Now this is an intriguing trailer ...
Wow, that's pretty creepy, especially since I'm already a little freaked out by dolls.
