Oak Street does a little rep again!

Film heads have a lot to like in the new fall season just announced by the Oak Street Cinema. A lot of the offerings are distinctly old school, with that heady mix of high and low brow.

The Oak's new programmer Ryan Oestreich has put together everything from a week long Isaac Hayes tribute to a whole lot of French cinema, including a week of Alain Robbe-Grillet (a little "Last Year at Marienbad" anyone?) and just in time for those of you who are plowing through "Everything is Cinema" two weeks of 1960's Jean-Luc Goddard.

To add a little francophone action there's also a few days of opera-fueled chases through Paris with Jean-Jacques Benix's "Diva."

What else? Oh, the ever popular Manhattan Short Film Festival where you the viewer gets to vote as part of a global jury and it all wraps up with the Old Scout's latest foray onto the silver screen in Peter Rosen's new documentary "Garrison Keillor: the man on the radio in the red shoes."
