The Screenwriters Workshop is sponsoring its second Screenlabs Challenge short film competition.
The challenge was to make a film of 12 minutes or less on the themes of "Unrequited Love: Agony and Bliss." Just to make it more interesting, the film can have no more than 4 primary characters, and must use the Witches Hat Water Tower in Prospect Park as one of four locations.
If you feel up for the challenge, sadly it's too late to enter for this year, as the deadline has passed.
There's a wide range of styles and approaches, from drama, to mystery and sci-fi. There is also a wide range of experience among the film makers from complete newcomers to people who have been making films for many years.
Organizers want members of the public to watch the films, and vote at the Blogspot site for best film. Top votegetter will receive the audience prize. There is also the opportunity to leave comments on each film, as to what you like - and what you don't. There has already been a pretty vigorous conversation on the site, and all the film makers seem to be welcoming the feedback.
The voting will be open for about another month or so.
