I made a somewhat tongue in cheek remark about how a Duluth blogger suggested that politicians could run riot in the city because of the local media frenzy over the impending arrival of George Clooney and Renee Zellweger for their "Leatherheads" publicity tour.
It turns out it was the Twin Cities media which turned out in force, all to be treated to a string of one-liners from Mr Clooney, occasionally at the expense of his co-star. When Zellweger declared she was going to take a walk around the city after the press conference he scoffed and declared she wasn't going anywhere.
The stars also pulled a minor fast one in that they went out to meet fans about 45 minutes before the time announced in the local media, and were actually gone, baby, gone by 1 pm when they were meant to be meeting and greeting.
But everyone seemed to have a lot of fun. Check out MPR reporter Bob Kelleher's piece about the event.
