Some thoughts from Kimberly Pierce

Posted at 3:32 PM on March 25, 2008 (0 Comments)

With just a few days before 'Stop-Loss" opening nationwide I have been working up the interview with Kimberly Pierce. Her debut film "Boys Don't Cry" made a star out of Hilary Swank in 1999, but Pierce has been stangely quiet in the years since.

Much of the time, at least since 9/11, she has been working on creating a film which she wanted to tell a contemporary soldier's story.

We talked a great deal about craft too, and as a preview here is what she had to say about how making a film is like a sinking ship, and what it was like working with cinematographer Chris Menges.
