Historic film on the net

Posted at 4:14 PM on March 19, 2008 by Euan Kerr

You know, this internet thing just might catch on. I have just spent way too much time playing around with a new feature from the Scottish Film archive which has posted clips from historic films.

According the an article in the Glasgow Herald the archive has digitized 400 hours of historic film, and posted clips on the web.

There are the Norsemen in Shetland and of the day Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy visited the Playhouse Theater in 1932.

There is some amazing film of the now deserted island of St Kilda, at one time Britain's most remote community.

And there is also this re-telling of one of my favorite tales of Hebridean history.
